Charter Prep is designed to collect as little as possible.
What stays on your device. Your exam date, study plan, answer history, mastery scores, streaks, and flashcard schedule are stored only on your device. We do not operate user accounts and cannot see this data.
What is sent off your device. When you use AI features (practice question generation, answer explanations, and the AI tutor), the text of your request is sent to our server proxy and forwarded to OpenAI, which generates the response and returns it. What is sent: the message you type, plus the topic, question text, and answer choices relevant to your request. What is not sent: your name, email address, device identifiers, or your study history, scores, and exam date, all of which remain on your device.
How that data is used. Solely to generate the response returned to you. It is not linked to your identity, not used to build a profile, not sold, and not used for advertising. Please do not include personal information in tutor messages.
Third-party protection. OpenAI processes these requests under its API data usage policy, which provides protections equivalent to those described here, including not using API data to train its models by default.
Your control. AI features are off until you turn them on. You can disable them at any time in the app's Settings, after which no further requests are sent.
Purchases. Payments are processed entirely by Apple. We receive no payment details.
Analytics and tracking. The app contains no third-party analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking.
Data deletion. Deleting the app deletes all locally stored data.
